MWHC Behavioral Health Emergency Response Team (BERT) show details
A Code BERT is called when a patient is experiencing a behavioral health crisis and the unit staff need assistance in managing the situation. The team is composed of clinical personnel with expertise in behavioral health who are trained to respond to medical, surgical, obstetrical units in event of behavioral health crisis. When a medication dosage contains more than the amount ordered, a nurse or anesthesiologist is required to waste the remaining medication in the cactus sink, with a documented witness present. This course describes the process and expectations of witnessing wasting of unused remainder of a controlled substance.
