In this module we will be discussing Performance Improvement in the Treatment of Hypothermia including the safety and efficacy of managing uncomplicated hypothermic patients with the use of Bair-Hugger on medical units. The hypothermia protocol was created to implement a standardized nurse-driven protocol for managing uncomplicated hypothermia and compare outcomes between patients managed with the protocol on medical units versus those transferred to IMC or ICU.
