MSMHC Nursing Escalation of Patient Care Concerns Policy. show details
This course provides nursing staff at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize, escalate, and document patient care concerns using the Nursing Escalation of Patient Care Concerns Policy. The training emphasizes the use of standardized SBAR communication, proper documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR), and adherence to established escalation pathways during business hours, after hours, and in the Emergency Department.
The course is delivered through a structured learning module in SITEL. A post-training knowledge exam. Staff are required to achieve a 100% pass rate on the knowledge exam to demonstrate competency and accountability.

The purpose of this course is to introduce a new 2-person verification process for patient weights. It also aims to strengthen awareness of medication error risks linked to inaccurate weights, support a culture of safety, accountability, and align practice with national safety standards and hospital policy.

The purpose of this training is to review the importance of two RN verification for high-risk and high-alert medications. This refresher will reinforce why these safety checks matter, how they protect our patients, and how they strengthen our culture of accountability and teamwork. Together, these changes align us with national safety standards and help ensure that every dose we give is accurate and safe
