This course provides nursing staff at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize, escalate, and document patient care concerns using the Nursing Escalation of Patient Care Concerns Policy. The training emphasizes the use of standardized SBAR communication, proper documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR), and adherence to established escalation pathways during business hours, after hours, and in the Emergency Department. The course is delivered through a structured learning module in SITEL. A post-training knowledge exam. Staff are required to achieve a 100% pass rate on the knowledge exam to demonstrate competency and accountability.
