The "Surgical Safety Time Out: A Best Practice Example" module is introduced by Executive VP, Medical Affairs & Chief Medical Officer at MedStar Health, Stephen R. T. Evans, MD. Dr. Evans provides a step-by-step outline of all components of the Time Out that must be performed prior to every procedure performed in a MedStar entity. The module concludes with a Time Out Best Practice example based on the World Health Organization's Surgical Safety Checklist, and performed by Dr. Atul Gawande's surgical team.
