This course is an intensive two-day course that provides an indepth look into responding to chemical, biological, and radiological events. It is a mix of classroom and interactive teaching modalities. Students don hazmat suits, set up decontamination tents, practice drills and simulate patient movement through the decon system.
Registration for this course requires permission from the hospital's Emergency Management personnel in coordination with department leaders. Students are required to provide their own personal protective equipment (PPE) as well as be cleared physically by Occupational Health.
Completing this course will satisfy the Initial/Annual OSHA Hazmat training requirements.
