Objectives
- At the completion of this module, the learner will define minimal, moderate, and deep sedation.
- At the completion of this module, the learner will describe elements required for pre-procedural, intra-procedural, post-procedural assessments, and monitoring.
- At the completion of this module, the learner will state criteria for discharge of patients who have received moderate sedation.
- At the completion of this module, the learner will identify signs and symptoms of respiratory depression and airway compromise.
- At the completion of this module, the learner will discuss nursing actions to be instituted when respiratory depression and/or airway compromise are identified.
- At the completion of this module, the learner will identify action, dosages, adverse reactions, and reversal agents for common medications administered for moderate sedation.
