Objectives
- The learner will be able to identify indications for VADs
- The learner will be able to identify the difference between the Heartmate II (HMII) and HeartWare (HVAD) VAD
- The learner will be able to identify VAD system components and describe their function
- The learner will be shown how to interpret VAD parameters on the system monitors
- The learner will be able to pick out important patient assessment considerations
- The learner will be able to identify and understand common complications, including emergency considerations
- The learner will be able to ientify resources for assistance and education
