Upon completion of this module, the nurse should be able to:
- state protocols to follow prior to administration of an anti-infective infusion
- differentiate between an antibacterial, an antiviral,and an antifungal infusion
- recall some of the actions, doses, storage requirements, and adverse effects
for some of the most common anti-infectives
- state the protocol to follow for a First Dose infusion
- differentiate between an allergic reaction, an anaphylactic reaction, and side
effects/adverse effects
- recall the common labs drawn for patients receiving antibiotics and recall the
time frame for lab draws for trough and peak levels show less
Objectives
