This presentation is designed for nurses who administer blood components.

Objectives

  • Correctly fill out the Transfusion Record.
  • Identify how to verify if Type & Screen has been completed.
  • Identify the process to pick up blood components from Transfusion Service.
  • Identify the correct IV tubing for blood administration.
  • Verbalize the correct process for administering a unit of blood from start to finish.
  • Identify a patient with a transfusion reaction and what steps to implement.
