In recent years, research and evidence for management of emergency injuries has produced many changes to established protocols. This course will review and update the best practices for the management of emergency care including mental health emergencies, cardiac emergencies, heat illnesses, fractures and dislocations, CPR, spineboarding and equipment removal. All information presented will reflect the best available evidence.

- Differentiate signs and symptoms of common heat illnesses.
- Identify differences in post-heat illness management and return to play criteria.
- Evaluate traumatic fractures efficiently and apply appropriate splinting quickly.
- Recognize red-flags in traumatic fractures and dislocations.
- Minimize injury sequelae.
- Review common cardiac conditions athletes compete with.
- Review cardiac conditions that are medical disqualifiers.
- Recognize and differentiate on-field signs and symptoms of a possible cardiac event associated with a specific condition.
- Develop a management plan for cardiac conditions.
- Administer appropriate life-saving care for emergency injuries.
- Experiment with different ways of spinal motion restriction.
