This course will provide practitioners with knowledge to assist patients in the mental aspects of injury, rehabilitation and living an active lifestyle. Participants will learn to identify appropriate candidates for referral to a mental health care provider. Additionally, strategies to assist healthcare professionals in their own mental health and how best to handle the after effects of a mental health emergency will be discussed. After lunch, participants will have the opportunity to partake in an interactive anti-stigma workshop designed to reduce stigmatizing behaviors, attitudes and practices within the mental health community.

- Distinguish behaviors outside of the expected injury recovery process.
- Recognize patients appropriate for referral for mental health or performance coaching.
- Understand ways to enhance your own mental health.
- Discover ways workplaces can support their employees’ mental health.
- Identify stigmatizing behaviors and attitudes and their impact on delivery of healthcare.
- Develop solutions and action plans to provide the best care to patients dealing with mental health issues.
