General Objectives

• Participants will be able to evaluate and diagnose various lumbar spine related musculoskeletal injuries in the athletic population.
• Participants will review risk factors associated with various injuries.
• Participants will be able to utilize research and tests to determine risk of lumbar spine injury.
• Participants will be able to design and implement injury prevention programs to minimize these injuries.
• Participants will be able to design and implement a comprehensive treatment plan to rehabilitate athletes with a variety of different lox back conditions in preparations for safe return to sport.
• Participants will review sport-specific return to play criteria and be able to utilize criteria to make recommendations for athletes with a variety of different lumbar spine conditions.

• Identify signs and symptoms of lumbar spine disorders in athletes.
• Understand conservative and surgical management of low back injuries.
• Prescribe conservative and post-operative management of low back injuries in sports medicine.
