Objectives
- Communicate effectively with an interprofessional care team regarding high-risk medications.
- Determine when and how to obtain additional information to fill in gaps in the medication list.
- Discuss additional testing that might be indicated to rule out/in diagnoses.
- Identify high-risk classes of medications on the medication list that necessitate proceeding with caution.
- Recognize clinical presentations that necessitate additional precautions when administering high-risk medications.
- Recognize when it is necessary to expand the differential diagnosis to include medicine-related side effects and/or prescription medication toxicity.
