Objectives
- Identify which patients need to deliver in the Emergency Department and which can be safely transferred.
- Identify the most accurate way to date a pregnancy. Demonstrate how to appropriately manage the following complications: nuchal cord, preterm delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, breech presentation, and shoulder dystocia.
- Describe features of an extremely premature infant and list criteria that help predict the outcome of a premature infant.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills needed to work effectively on an interprofessional team.
- Demonstrate communication skills that maintain a calm environment while clearly verbalizing the identified complication and plan.
