Objectives
- Identify the four main causes of spinal cord compression (SCC).
- Identify risk factors for spinal cord compression, based on patient history and physical exam.
- Apply assessment findings to categorize risk as low, intermediate, or high.
- Use risk categorizations to guide diagnostic testing. Choose appropriate treatment pathway after assessment is complete.
- Demonstrate communication skills to foster trust and earn cooperation from patients.
- Urgently communicate cord compression diagnosis to an interdisciplinary team, in order to coordinate timely patient care.
