This course is pre-work for the live Faculty Development Course: Creating and Facilitating Simulation Based Education.
This module includes important educational theory and background related why simulation based education is a teaching strategy. It provides oversight and insight into some of the different learning theories and how they relate directly to the development of experiential learning activities.
The module also overviews learning objective, the instructional design process used to create simulation activities and evaluation for simulation activities.

Objectives
- Discuss how healthcare simulation is utilized as a teaching strategy.
- Connect adult/education learning theories to healthcare simulation-based education.
- Examine the use of the instructional design model ADDIE in simulation curriculum development process.
- Identify the roles and responsibilities of members of the healthcare team involved in the collaborative design, development and implementation of simulation based education.
- Integrate a team-based approach in the design, development and implementation of simulation based education.
