Objectives
- Utilize appropriate insulin therapy to achieve a blood glucose target of 140 with the range of 110-180mg/dl considered acceptable for hospitalized patients.
- Apply the standardized subcutaneous insulin protocol including the use of prandial, correction and basal insulin.
- Recognize insulin dosing in special circumstances.
- Identify how to dose prandial and correctional insulin.
- Integrate a team-based approach in the care of persons with diabetes in the hospital.
