Activity Description:
The Glycemic Management in the Hospital course is designed to help clinicians effectively manage the hospitalized patient with diabetes with the goal of decreasing morbidity, mortality, length of stay and improving patient outcomes. Pre, peri and post operative management will also be addressed, as well as how to prepare the person with diabetes for safe discharge from the hospital. (Pharmacology/Nutrition 1.0 CE)

		Objectives
- Describe recommendations for insulin adjustment the day before and the morning of a colonoscopy.
- Integrate a team-based approach in the care of persons with diabetes in the hospital.
- State which oral agents need to be adjusted the day before a colonoscopy.
- Utilize appropriate insulin therapy to achieve a blood glucose target of 140 with the range of 110-180mg/dl considered acceptable for hospitalized patients.
