Objectives

  • Discuss the relevant anatomy of the spinal cord as it relates to spinal cord dysfunction.
  • Describe common traumatic and non-traumatic causes of spinal cord dysfunction.
  • Determine the patient's neurologic level of spinal cord injury and whether it is complete or incomplete, using the ISNCSCI "ASIA exam" as a guide.
  • Discuss the management of common medical comorbidities in patients with spinal cord dysfunction.
