This course offers 2.0 Continuing Professional Education credits to Nurses and Physicians. To claim the credits, the course must be completed prior to December 31, 2024. Once your evaluation is complete, log on to CloudCME® from your left SiTEL menu, and toggle to your Transcript to find the credits.
Accreditation: In support of improving patient care, MedStar Health is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

About this Course: ADD FROM APPLICATIONThis is a simulated event for healthcare personnel to practice assessment, recognition, and management of a fire event. This session will focus on a fire situation in the Operating Room. Prevention, identification, management, and team communication will be included in this course.

- Recognize surgical fire risks: ignition sources, fuel, and oxidizer.
- Demonstrate management of a fire event including recognition, patient management and surgical fire management (RACE & PASS).
- Identify roles and responsibilities of member of the healthcare team during a fire event.
- Locate and utilize the appropriate equipment needed during a fire event.
- Demonstrate effective communication with other members of the healthcare team during a fire event in a simulated setting.
