			Rapid lowering of blood pressure and/or use of IV antihypertensive agents has been identified as a safety risk for patients in the ED and inpatient settings. MedStar has established new guidelines for the safe management of markedly elevated blood pressure in adult patients presenting to the emergency department and inpatient settings. This activity reviews the new guidelines and how it will affect nursing associates in both the inpatient and emergency department settings. show less

- Recognize when to escalate concerns for hypertensive emergency to a provider.
- Utilize recommendations from the current evidence based best practices for the management of hypertensive urgency in asymptomatic patients.
