Objectives
- Describe how MedStar Health supports patients who enter our care with a current history of drug and/or alcohol use.
- Identify the goals and values of the Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) Program.
- Explain the role of the Peer Recovery Coach in your care setting.
- Identify when patients are screened using the Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) Tool.
- Implement Medication Based Treatment (MBT), when appropriate.
- Demonstrate application of the Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale (COWS) to detect the subtleties of withdrawal in your patient.
