MedStar NRH Stroke and Brain Injury Symposium and Open House
Thursday, June 6, 2024
Description
This Symposium provides the most recent treatment strategies and interventions for stroke and brain injury patients from an interdisciplinary perspective. This unique lecture series offers insight into a wide variety of topics that impact all disciplines. This year’s symposium will have a focus on some pertinent medical and therapy interventions based on a single case study of a patient after a hemorrhagic stroke. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear this remarkable survivor and “social media queen” speak about her journey and hear some of the adaptations she has created to become independent. Speakers include locally and nationally recognized health care providers, specializing in the management and rehabilitation of stroke and brain injury. Following the symposium, participants will have the opportunity to attend the MedStar National Rehabilitation Network’s Stroke and Brain Injury Open House and Education Fair where they will interact with rehabilitation vendors and organizations and sample some light refreshments. Clinicians and allied health care providers who treat patients with neurological deficits are encouraged to attend.

-
Discuss acute medical management of patients after stroke.

Identity medical complications of different types of brain injury.
