This course will provide clinical education and training on the use of Narcan and how to respond to a potential opioid overdose in the ambulatory setting, by incorporating current evidence-based science and best practice principles in the provision of direct patient care. At the completion of the training, the learner will be able to incorporate the use of Narcan with First 5 training, to successfully respond to an emergency in the ambulatory setting.

- Verbalize the difference between a respiratory arrest requiring Narcan administration and a cardiac arrest requiring AED use
- Recognize signs and symptoms of an opioid overdose
- Identify when to use Narcan
- Demonstrate how to administer Narcan
- Demonstrate how to provide necessary support to the overdose victim until EMS arrival
