The course will review stroke and orthotic management in the neurological population for the PTA. Participants will review common deficits seen in the neurological conditions and associated need for assistive and orthotic devices.
Objectives

Maddy Gears, PTA received her associates as a Physical Therapist Assistant from Montgomery College in 2022. Maddy holds certification in LSVT BIG and is currently working with a mixture of neurological and orthopedic patients in Olney, MD. Maddy works alongside 3 therapists that strive to serve patients in the Parkinsons, stroke, TBI, MS, and SCI community in Olney. As Maddy continues to learn and grow, she enjoys sharing her knowledge of neurological conditions and current treatment methods backed by recent research.

Susan Healy, PTA received her AAS from Northern Virginia Community College and BA in Business Administration from University of MD. Susie is also Certified in Lee Silverman LSVT BIG. She has over 40 years of experience in various areas including orthopedics and neuro, with her primary interest and experience in Neuro. She has also worked in various settings including acute rehab, inpatient, outpatient and long-term care. Susie has been treating in the outpatient clinic at Medstar Olney since 2012
