This is a scenario-based learning opportunity involving several case studies with instruction as to where the patient falls along the behavior continuum and what the steps would be in managing the situation. Topics include patients becoming increasingly more agitated and aggressive requiring a range of techniques, including therapeutic communication, de-escalation, limit setting, staff going hands-on with a patient, giving IM medication, placing in locked door seclusion, and/or applying restraints.
