Breastfeeding Education & Competency for  L&D, Mother Baby & NICU nurses

Objectives

  • Assess LATCH and position. and identify effective troubleshooting to support breastfeeding mother ​
  • Demonstrate breastfeeding troubleshooting techniques.
  • Demonstrate setup, use and cleaning of hospital grade breast pump
  • Describe the benefits of breastfeeding and potential complications from introducing formula.​ ​
  • Identify benefits & demonstrate hand expression of breastmilk
  • Use active listening and adaptive communication styles to identify breastfeeding barriers.​
