About this module: This case study challenges learners to apply evidence-based best practices in managing postpartum hemorrhage (PPH). Learners will refine their ability to accurately quantify blood loss, recognize early and delayed PPH, prioritize pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions, and escalate care appropriately. Detailed feedback reinforces current guidelines and strengthens rapid, confident decision-making in high-acuity obstetric emergencies. show less
Objectives
- Apply evidence-based methods for accurately quantifying postpartum blood loss, and differentiate between estimation and quantitative measurement techniques.
- Identify and distinguish between early and delayed postpartum hemorrhage based on timing, presentation, and risk factors.
- Integrate interdisciplinary communication and rapid response protocols to ensure coordinated, timely care during obstetric emergencies.
- Select appropriate non-surgical when pharmacologic measures are insufficient, with consideration of safety and effectiveness.
