About this Course: This VIRTUAL two-day intense review course is intended for nurses who are planning to take the ANCC Gerontological Nursing Certification exam.The lectures and time allotment are based on the exam content outline and will cover all body systems, physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, assessment strategies, and treatment options that are unique for nursing care of older adults. Population demographics, professional practice issues, legal and ethical care concerns will also be reviewed. All participants will be expected to take the Gerontological certification exam within 90 days of completion of the course.

- Discuss the evidence-based practice guidelines for holistic care of older adults and the resources available to patients' families and care providers.
- Discuss the professional practice issues for holistic care for older adults.
- Identify the gerontological nursing roles and goals in the community, long term care, primary care, acute care, and palliative care environments.
- Integrate the legal, regulatory, and ethical care issues as they relate to the nursing care of older adults.
- Outline the physiological changes of the degenerative process and the effects on each body system.
