Dr. Atves, a Fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeon practicing at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital’s Division of Podiatric Surgery, presents complexities of wound care patients and the importance of a multi-disciplinary approach. Dr. Atves describes the requirements for forming a multi-disciplinary team in this setting for viewers. Jayson N. Atves, DPM is a Fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeon practicing at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. where he manages all forms of foot and ankle pain, injury, and deformity.He specializes in foot and ankle reconstruction secondary to degenerative, posttraumatic and limb salvage pathologies and performs corrective surgeries including total ankle replacement, tendon transfers, joint fusions, and external fixation and is trained in an assortment of specialized procedure types. Dr. Atves earned his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine at the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine following years within the field of Orthotics and Prosthetics where he specialized in treating lower extremity and spinal pathologies. He went on to complete his surgical Residency at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. and subsequently his surgical Fellowship in advanced reconstructive foot and ankle surgery at the distinguished Pennsylvania Intensive Lower Extremity Fellowship in Malvern, PA. Dr. Atves is an active member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, among others, and has made significant contributions to the field of foot and ankle surgery with extensive involvement as a volunteer and researcher, including textbook and journal publications, as Director of the prestigious MedStar Georgetown University Hospital Foot and Ankle Research Fellowship, as Faculty in the MedStar Podiatric Surgery Residency program and at the Georgetown University School of Medicine.
