Objectives

  • Apply anatomic and mapping knowledge to common EP procedures,
  • Correlate 3D electroanatomic mapping (e.g., CARTO) with real cardiac anatomy to interpret catheter position, chamber geometry, and lesion placement during EP procedures.
  • Demonstrate situational awareness in the EP lab by recognizing how anatomy, mapping data, and hemodynamics influence procedural decision-making and patient safety.
  • Explain the fundamental principles of cardiac electrophysiology mapping, including activation mapping, voltage mapping, and entrainment concepts, and describe how these guide arrhythmia diagnosis and ablation strategy.
  • Identify key cardiac anatomic structures relevant to electrophysiology procedures through hands-on heart dissection, including conduction pathways, valvular landmarks, atrial septum, pulmonary veins, and coronary sinus.
