The live course provides nurses and cardiovascular technologists in the electrophysiology lab with a hands-on introduction to cardiac anatomy and electroanatomic mapping. They will complete a guided heart dissection and learn foundational mapping concepts including color interpretation, RF and PFA basics, and catheter overview. Interactive activities reinforce how anatomy and mapping relate to common electrophysiology procedures.
show lessObjectives
- Apply anatomic and mapping knowledge to common EP procedures,
- Correlate 3D electroanatomic mapping (e.g., CARTO) with real cardiac anatomy to interpret catheter position, chamber geometry, and lesion placement during EP procedures.
- Demonstrate situational awareness in the EP lab by recognizing how anatomy, mapping data, and hemodynamics influence procedural decision-making and patient safety.
- Explain the fundamental principles of cardiac electrophysiology mapping, including activation mapping, voltage mapping, and entrainment concepts, and describe how these guide arrhythmia diagnosis and ablation strategy.
- Identify key cardiac anatomic structures relevant to electrophysiology procedures through hands-on heart dissection, including conduction pathways, valvular landmarks, atrial septum, pulmonary veins, and coronary sinus.
