This annual education course is designed for nurses working in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and focuses on reinforcing key competencies that support patient safety, procedural quality, and team communication in the invasive cardiovascular environment. The course also addresses staff safety and procedural environment safety, including radiation protection, safe patient handling, and strategies to reduce occupational hazards commonly encountered in the cath lab.

- Apply principles of moderate sedation, EKG interpretation, and continuous physiologic monitoring to promptly recognize and respond to patient deterioration in the Cath Lab.
- Demonstrate correct nursing actions during emergencies, including sedation-related complications, malignant hyperthermia, procedural fires, and sharps exposures, in accordance with institutional protocols.
- Implement patient and staff safety practices—including radiation protection, fire prevention, sharps safety, and the Universal Protocol—to reduce procedural risk and prevent adverse events.
- Integrate regulatory and evidence-based standards into Cath Lab practice to ensure safe, ethical, and high-quality care throughout the procedural continuum.
