American Board of Emergency Medicine has a new format for the certifying exam. This session allows Emergency Medicine Residents from both Georgetown and University of Maryland to practice the new format in a simulated environment. Structured feedback will be provided to better prepare the resident for the live exam.
Content will include difficult conversations, managing conflict, patient centered communication, reassessment, ultrasound, clinical decision making, and procedures.

- Create solutions to the situations in which they are involved
- Demonstrate the ability to evaluate new information, efficiently problem solve, and optimize patient management
- Demonstrate the preparation for the procedure (i.e. indications, risks), the performance of the procedure, and the provision of post-procedure care
- Describe relevant anatomy and interpret pathologic images
- Empathically use verbal and nonverbal skills to engage in bidirectional communication that is essential for a successful therapeutic encounter in the emergency department
- Establish rapport and effectively communicate in an empathetic manner
- Identify and stabilize high acuity patients
