Objectives

  • Participants will demonstrate understanding of the location and extent of the brain lesion, tailor their interventions in partnership with each patient, target the specific areas of impairment and facilitate recovery through effective rehabilitation strategies including remediation by capitalizing on the principles of neuroplasticity.
  • Participants will discuss how brain mapping techniques can help predict various deficits that may arise from lesions in specific brain regions, including motor, sensory, cognitive, and language impairments, as well as skills which may be preserved and leveraged for compensation to maximize patient outcomes and quality of life.
  • Participants will discuss how lesions in different brain regions can impact various aspects of function, such as motor control, sensation, language, cognition, and activities of daily living.
