SLP Research Roundtable: Clinical Management of PSP Description Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) and Corticobasal Syndrome (CBS) are rare, progressive neurodegenerative disorders that present with complex motor, cognitive, and communication challenges. This session will review and discuss the article "Best Practices in the Clinical Management of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and Corticobasal Syndrome: A Consensus Statement of the CurePSP Centers of Care" by Bluett et al. (2021). Attendees will gain a clearer understanding of both the medical management of PSP and the SLP's scope of practice in treating related speech, swallowing, and cognitive-linguistic impairments. Specific evidence-based treatment targets for dysphagia, communication, and cognitive-linguistic intervention will be reviewed. Suggested Audience: SLP Difficulty Level Advanced – Includes in-depth theory, concepts, and applications of information and/or techniques that are presented beyond the Essential Level. Speaker Anna Dickstein, MS CCC-SLP holds a master’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders from MGH Institute of Health Professions and is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS). She serves as Program Specialist in Outpatient Education at MedStar Health Physical Therapy in Washington, DC, where she provides clinical care and develops programming for professional education and student training.
