This course reviews the roles and responsibilities of the interdisciplinary Emergency Department team in identifying and responding to patients with hypertensive disorders in pregnancy. Emphasis is placed on recognizing risk factors, applying diagnostic criteria, and implementing timely, evidence-based management. In the event of a hypertensive crisis, the course focuses on the knowledge, skills, and team-based coordination required to initiate effective emergency management and ensure safe escalation of care.

- Demonstrate readiness to respond to hypertensive emergencies in pregnancy through effective clinical decision-making, communication, and coordination of interdisciplinary care.
- Describe evidence-based management and prevention strategies for hypertensive disorders in pregnancy, including timely ED interventions and appropriate disposition.
- Recognize and classify hypertensive disorders in pregnancy by identifying risk factors, early warning signs, and applying appropriate diagnostic criteria in the Emergency Department.
