SLP Handle with Care: The Do’s & Don’ts of Crushing Meds
Description
The inpatient pharmacy team will be reviewing appropriate medication administration for patients with dysphagia in helping to identify common medications that should not be crushed due to impact on pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics. The team will review the MedStar Do Not Crush policy and list and other available resources. SafetyNet events and ISMP best practices will be shared with a focus on practical application to speech language pathologists for assistance in providing recommendations for medication administration. show less
