Description
This course provides hospital personnel—including security, maintenance, and facilities teams—with a foundational understanding of helipad safety and helicopter operations. It is designed to support safe, efficient coordination with flight crews during medical transport activities.Participants will be introduced to the aircraft and helipad environment, including key features, safety equipment, and operational considerations. The course emphasizes hazard recognition—particularly foreign object debris (FOD)—as well as proper personal safety practices and behavior around the aircraft.Learners will also review expectations for daily helipad inspections and gain insight into the different phases of operation, including pre-arrival preparation, aircraft arrival and departure, and night operations.Additionally, the course provides high-level awareness of emergency scenarios and outlines appropriate reporting protocols. While emergency response is managed by trained 911 personnel, this training ensures staff understand their role in maintaining a safe environment and supporting operations effectively.
