This content will explore the fundamentals and clinical applications of weight-bearing CT imaging, demonstrating how functional loading provides enhanced insight into musculoskeletal alignment and pathology. While focused on foot and ankle, the principles and findings are valuable for all therapists and physicians, including those treating athletes, spine/back patients, and complex musculoskeletal cases. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the purpose of weight-bearing CT, how to interpret its findings, and how this tool can enhance collaboration across the care team. Speaker Nacime Salomao Barbachan Mansur, MD, PhD, is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in foot and ankle surgery. He cares for patients with a wide range of foot and ankle conditions— from bunions and toe deformities, to performing complex total ankle replacement and reconstructive procedures. Dr. Mansur treats younger individuals with sports and athletic-related foot or ankle injuries as well as older patients who require treatment for chronic issues. Dr. Mansur applies minimally invasive techniques while performing complex ankle surgeries. Additionally, he uses patient-specific instrumentation to develop customized implants for patients undergoing reconstructive surgery. Dr. Mansur conducts clinical research that aims to advance foot and ankle care, and advocates for patient participation in clinical trials.
