Description
Inappropriate patient sexual behavior (IPSB) is prevalent in rehabilitation and can impact providers and students. This session will give an overview of the research surrounding IPSB to include who is at risk and what patient characteristics may lead to the behavior. Then the speakers will provide best practices to handle IPSB and how to support students who experience this while in our clinics. Finally, attendees will have an opportunity to practice responding to IPSB.
Objectives
At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Define inappropriate patient sexual behavior.
- Recognize risk factors for this behavior.
- Implement a strategy to change the patient behavior.
- Support a student who experiences IPSB.
